16.5.2013 Research on honey

The Ruralia Institute at the University of Helsinki has done a research on Finnish monofloral honeys and their antimicrobial activity. During the research significant antimicrobial activity against a bacteria which causes four different diseases was detected. Especially active honeys were buckwheat, willow herb and heather honey but also cloudberry and lingonberry honey. Consumption of honey as precautionary treatment and during an infection could significantly reduce sequelae such as otitis and sinusitis.
